An overview of the principles of Philosophy for children, and the impact this has had on child learning in a first school setting. Practical opportunities to trial Philosophy for Children in action.

For Philosophy for Children to impact upon children’s progress in all areas of learning and provide an opportunity to consider how the approach could be adapted to suit the needs of your school.


  • (31st January 2017) An overview of the principles of Philosophy for Children and the impact it has had on child learning at Abbeywood. Practical ideas to create a collaborative community of enquiry in the classroom.
  • (7th March 2017) Exploration of the use of different stimuli to engage children in debating + gap task.
  • (4th April 2017) A review of what worked well and how this will further influence classroom practice. Next steps for how this could be adapted to meet the needs of your children in your setting.
