Don’t take our word for it – what are our trainees saying?
“With guidance andsupport from all staff in the school, along with my department and mentors; my experience of training at Whitley Academy through the school direct route was great! I feel like I made excellent progress towards the teaching standards and through a personalised trainee induction programme, I was able to develop in all other aspects of teaching. I have been able to effectively self-reflectand set appropriate targets in order to improve my standard of teaching week by week.”
“I began life at Whitley Academy as a HLTA for the English department, where I was able to begin developing my teaching and learning skills through small group intervention work. From this I progressed to on-the-job teacher training within the school, which has enabled me – with the support of the school and my department – to evolve my teaching ability so that I feel ready to take my next step as an NQT at Whitley Academy.”
“Training with RSA Academy this year (2016/2017) has been an invaluable experience. The provision for training has been exceptional, helping us to develop our skills in theory and practice. I have not only developed my teaching and learning strategies, I have grown as a person. This I believe has been down to the inspiring and specialist teachers giving their training and advice. I would like to give a particular mention to my Mentor who has guided me through my training both professionally and personally and making me ready for my NQT year and further years of teaching. It has been a hard ride but a great one and I am happy to have chosen RSA School Direct as my training provider.”
“My route through my teacher training through the RSA Teaching School has been challenging but also incredibly rewarding and enjoyable. I have felt welcomed as any other member of staff at Arrow Vale, something I did not expect and something I have really valued. The best thing I can say about this course is current experts in teaching deliver it. Training sessions on Monday’s, whichever of the RSA Academies they were in, were enjoyable, challenging and up to date. More importantly, they were delivered with a level of trust and respect that could only be gained from listening to someone who works in our challenging but fantastic schools. I chose this training route to avoid the tedium of sitting in a lecture theatre and the university style academic style of learning. It has fully delivered and allowed me to develop in my role “on the job”, an experience that has been certainly very effective.”
“Completing my teacher training through the RSA School Direct route was the best decision I could have made for my career in education. The support I have received, from applying to completing the course, has been excellent. Both my subject and professional mentor have been there for me from day one, and have helped me to grow into a confident teacher. Training with the RSA has given me access to unlimited resources, in particular the specialist knowledge and guidance from experienced teachers.”
“Abbeywood RSA Academy has provided me with a lot of time to develop personal targets in my NQT year. My mentor has been dedicatedto our weekly meetings and has always been available to help whenever I have needed it. I have been able to really challenge myself at Abbeywood and I know I have learned valuable life lessons that will support me throughout the rest of my career.”
“All of the students at Hamilton School have a diagnosis of autism. It is a primary special school with a dream to be all age. We have a key set of principles around our ‘What We Stand For Document’ and the school was recently described as an ‘extraordinarily happy and calm place’. We currently have 85 students but due to our current expansion we will have 110 by January 2017!”
